Meet and collaborate with transcendent compassionate helping spirits in non-ordinary reality worlds during two days of learning the Core Shamanism framework and practicing classic shamanic journeying.
The Way of the Shaman® is an experiential two-day workshop in shamanic journeying developed by anthropologist and shamanic practioner Michael Harner of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies.
The Way of the Shaman® teaches the common elements of shamanic practice worldwide, as distilled through decades of rigourous research and dedicated shamanic practice. Harner noted in his research that the majority of shamanic cultures worldwide had the same principles at heart. He concluded it indicated shamanic practice is a universal human heritage rather than a cultural one. Mindful of the sensitivities of cultural appropriation, he developed a framework that uses and teaches the essence of those principles without specific cultural overlays, and called it Core Shamanism.
With a strong focus on ethical practice in contemporary settings, Core Shamanism is a pathway to rekindling ancient wisdom skills. It is particularly useful for people whose ancestral practices have been lost, and those who have no access to teachers of traditional shamanic lineages.
In the workshop you will:
Meet your own compassionate transcendent helping spirits and begin learning how to collaborate with them.
Learn and practice basic divination methods.
Move forward on your path in spiritual independence.
Understand how shamanic techniques can support and help you determine your own path through personal challenges.
The drum-driven shamanic journey in an altered state of consciousness is at the heart of Core Shamanism. Drumming is safe, effective and used in shamanic practices worldwide to pave the way for the altered state of shamanic consciousness. No substances, drugs or medicines of any kind are used.
In The Way of the Shaman® you’ll learn how to use a specific drumbeat to intentionally and consciously journey to transcendent realms to ethically interact with helping spirits, divine information, and access healing.
